HOW DO I BECOME PART OF NUBE DE ORO?
You are welcome to come by and check out Nube de Oro practices during our regular practice sessions! Please contact us first to make sure we are not out of class performing! Prospective dancers should fill out the "Interest Form" (print one in Adobe Acrobat), email it to Irma Abella, or bring it on your visit to Nube de Oro classes. The form does not commit you to join, but provides us with contact information in case a class is cancelled.
WHAT DO I NEED TO START?
First of all enthusiasm to dance and workout wear!, and then folklorico shoes (boys=folklorico boots) and a practice skirt (girls). Dancers should obtain these items within four weeks. Nube de Oro does have its own repertoire of costumes. However, when dancers begin to perform they will need to obtain items which should not be shared, i.e., arracadas, shoes, makeup, bloomers, hats, belts, etc.~ a list will be provided.
WHAT IS THE COST?
Dues are $25 per month (1-2 dancers in family), and $30 (3-4 dancers in family). Dues are paid on a montly basis, regardless of whether a dancer[s] attends classes consistently or not.
WHY ARE MONTHLY FEES CALLED "DUES" AND WHERE DOES THIS MONEY GO?
The Ballet Folklorico Nube de Oro is a nonprofit, educational dance organization. The dues are not "payment" for instruction, rather they allow for instruction and membership to Nube de Oro.
It is important for members to know that the state does not fund Ballet Folklorico Nube de Oro, our instructors and Board are not paid "staff", and most importantly dancer dues covers membership and our practice site rent. Dancers' participation at paid performances help to contribute to Nube's rent, as well as parent's participation in our fundraisers.
HOW OLD IS NUBE AND HOW MANY DANCERS AND WHAT ARE THEIR AGES?
Nube de Oro was formed in 1995. Currently Nube de Oro has 50 consistent dancers! We are very proud of our dancers and their enthusiasm!
