Nube de Oro's Purpose

Purpose:
To teach and preserve
traditional Mexican
dance
.

Ballet Folklórico Nube de Oro was created with a purpose: "To teach and preserve traditional Mexican dance." There are a variety of goals, but this is the rock--and the dancers, the foundation--of Nube de Oro.

Nube de Oro was formed in April 1995 by a handful of dancers and their parents whom wished to continue their learning of traditional Mexican dances and give others the same opportunity in a positive environment. It was the enthusiasm of creating, not just a dance group, but an organization open to any dancer with a desire to learn that members continued their endeavor. Ways to promote a positive, family-oriented organization while emphasizing our dancers' folklorico education were discussed.

Purpose - To teach traditional Mexican folkloric dance, and in this way preserve and promote the positive and beauty of the Mexican culture. To work toward the development of the dancers' folkloric education. To educate our community and our youth through dance. To reach youth in need of positive models and to help strengthen their self-esteem and pride based on the knowledge of their own accomplishments.

Our Principles - Never forget the dancers and respect each one equally. Have mutual respect. Unity--it is important to be united within the group.

Our Membership - The membership consists solely of dancers and their parents. Members are expected to work together to achieve goals. Nube de Oro was started with the expectation that the parents of our young dancers be involved. The Founders began the group with a tremendous amount of commitment--member commitment and reliability. Prospective members, as well as established members, should relate and interact positively with the membership.

Goals - Expand and perfect Nube de Oro to help create a school of cultural education along with others interested in the same goals of teaching Mexican folkloric arts. Open the doors to the many youth who need a positive image of the Mexican culture. Create community pride by reminding our community that Sacramento is a city that holds many cultures and that we as a community need only to cultivate the positiveness of these cultures to enable people to see that diversity is colorful and suppresses the monotony of our busy lives.
